Magnetic blower
Magnetic levitation technology is based on transforming magnetic levitation flywheel technology in the field of space satellites. In the field of space satellites, the magnetic levitation fly wheel realizes high-performance satellite direction control and high-efficiency power conversion, which greatly improves the level of direction control and operation of the satellite, and effectively solves the problem of mechanical support used. The transmission system has low efficiency and short life, and requires regular maintenance and lubrication.

Suitable for wastewater treatment, food and pharmaceutical industry, petrochemical industry, leather industry, printing and dyeing industry, metal textile industry, cement and building materials industry. After a decade of stagnation, has the magnetic blower market finally picked up? The comeback story of Changzhou Blowers Company. In the heart of Chinese industry, Shandong Province, an energy revolution is taking place. Over the past decade, magnetic suspension blower technology has moved from the laboratory to the factory floor, and is now finally entering a market boom period. In this transformation, a state-owned enterprise with an established reputation - Changqiu Blowers Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as 'Changqiu Blowers') - is emerging as a prominent force at the forefront of the industry.
In 2012, when the concept of magnetic blowers first entered the Chinese industrial scene, the domestic market was almost monopolized by European and American brands. The high price and difficult maintenance make this highly efficient, energy-efficient technology difficult for widespread adoption. “At that time, when our customers inquired about magnetic suspension technology, we could only shake our heads,” recalled Li Jianguo, then technical director of Zhangqiu Blower.
The turning point came in 2015. Zhangqiu Blower established a joint laboratory with universities such as Tsinghua University and Xi'an Jiaotong University, investing more than 200 million yuan in its research. After four years of hard work, in 2019, the company's first homemade magnetic blower was produced. Test results showed that its efficiency was more than 30% higher compared to conventional ones
Roots fans, and noise is reduced by 20 dB. This completely broke the foreign technological monopoly. Market boom: Explosive demand in the context of carbon neutrality
2020 marked a turning point for the magnetic levitation blower market in China. With the proposed goal of "carbon neutrality," energy-efficient retrofitting in energy-intensive industries became imperative. Demand for energy-efficient equipment surged in fields such as wastewater treatment, the chemical industry, and metallurgy.
Sales data from Changqiu Air Compressor shows that sales of magnetic levitation air compressors were only 57 units in 2020; they rose to 215 units in 2021; to 487 units in 2022; and exceeded 500 units in the first three quarters of this year. Zhang Wei, the person in charge of the company's magnetic levitation production line, revealed: "Current orders are scheduled until the second quarter of next year, and the production line is operating 24 hours a day."
A large wastewater treatment plant in Shandong province performed a calculation: after replacing 10 magnetic levitation inflation floats, annual electricity savings amounted to 4.2 million kilowatt-hours, equivalent to a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of 186,400 tons. The investment costs could be recovered within two years.
These economic benefits have attracted an increasing number of organizations to upgrade their equipment.
Industrial landscape: A significant increase from a local production rate of 10% to a local production rate of 80%
According to data from the China General Machinery Industry Association, in the domestic magnetic levitation blower market in 2018, the share of domestic brands was less than 10%; by 2022, this figure had reversed, reaching over 80%. Changzhou blowers held a market share of approximately 25%, ranking first in the country and surpassing the German and Japanese brands that previously dominated the market.
The advantages of domestically produced equipment lie not only in the fact that it is 30% to 50% cheaper than imported products, but more importantly, in the speed of service response. "We promise to reach any location nationwide within 24 hours. This is something foreign brands cannot match," said Wang Ming, after-sales service manager at Changzhou Blower.
Creativity continues: From leader to leader
Today, Changqiao's blowers are no longer content with simply serving as local alternatives. In 2023, the company released the world's first intelligent magnetic levitation blower, which incorporates artificial intelligence algorithms to adjust operating parameters in real time, enabling an additional 5% improvement in energy efficiency. This product has been exported to regions such as Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Dr. Zhao Zhi Gang, Director of the company's Research and Development Center, presented the latest achievement: "We are developing the next generation of non-loaded magnetic levitation technology and plan to launch a prototype in 2025. This will completely eliminate mechanical wear and tear and can extend the equipment lifespan from 10 years to 20 years."
Supply chain impact: Driving the development of regional industrial clusters.
The success of Changqiu's blowers has spurred the development of the local industrial chain. Currently, Changqiu has formed a magnetic levitation blower industrial cluster, encompassing more than 20 supporting enterprises such as permanent magnet materials, sensors, and control equipment. Local government data shows that the annual output value of this industrial cluster has exceeded 5 billion yuan, creating more than 3,000 jobs.
"Our goal is to build a 'magnetic levitation valley' in China." Liu Wei, director of the Changqiu Economic and Technological Development Zone, said, "It is expected that by 2025, the magnetic levitation industry in the entire region will reach 10 billion yuan."
Challenges and the future: Capabilities, limitations, and lack of industry standards
Despite the rapid growth, some concerns remain. Sun Lipu, general manager of Changqiu Blowing Factory, admitted: "The biggest bottleneck at the moment is the lack of production capacity. Although we are building a new factory, training high-level technical workers will take time."
Another issue is the lack of industry standards. Experts from the Standardization Committee of the China General Machinery Industry Association pointed out: "Currently, there is no unified national standard for magnetic lifting blowers, which may lead to unregulated competition in the market. Relevant standards are expected to be introduced in 2024 and will promote the healthy development of this industry."
Market analysis institutions expect the Chinese magnetic levitation blower market to maintain a CAGR of more than 30% in the next five years, and its market size will exceed 20 billion yuan by 2027. In this new market segment driven by carbon neutrality, Changqiu blower has already taken a favorable position, benefiting from its leading position and technology accumulation.
From passively following to leading the trend, Changqiu Air Compressor's decade-long transformation is not just a single project, but also a microcosm of China's manufacturing ascent to new heights. In the era of green transformation, this veteran state-owned enterprise is accelerating toward a more efficient future with magnetic speed.
